Modular mono-material storage system made of stainless steel, composed of three module sizes. It adapts to different spatial configurations: horizontal, vertical, and in-depth. It is lightweight in relation to its load capacity, yet stable enough to grow in height
safely.
No hardware required for assembly.

Three additional modular trays complement the system.
These aluminium profiles, left over from an
industrial project, had been stored for nearly
15 years. Through upcycling combined with
recycled pla bottle plastics the stools took
shape, guided by the limitations and character
of the material itself. Each piece embodies a
dialogue between waste and function,
industry and form, transforming forgotten
elements into sturdy, lightweight stool or a
side table.

Bookends made from stainless steel tubes and bars. They are
processed in such a way that the center of gravity sits at the
bottom of the object. Forty-five-degree cuts on the lower and upper
ends ensure gentle contact with both surfaces and books. It may
appear unbalanced—but no, it won’t fall.

Sebastián Alarcón és un dissenyador de producte establert a Quito, Equador. La seva feina se centra en l’acer, modelat mitjançant un procés continu de prototipatge i iteració en què els processos industrials es troben amb el treball manual. Utilitza perfils estàndard, planxes i tubs metàl·lics, fet que permet que la lògica de producció i els materials disponibles defineixin el llenguatge de les seves peces.
La seva sensibilitat tècnica —arrelada en una mare vinculada a l’artesania i un pare amb formació mecànica— orienta la seva atenció cap al comportament dels materials, els sistemes d’unió i la manera com una peça sovint pren forma durant el procés de fabricació. La modularitat i els sistemes d’assemblatge continuen sent línies fonamentals de la seva recerca, amb obres concebudes com a sistemes oberts a la reconfiguració.
Quito ofereix un context singular, on la indústria i la cultura dels tallers conviuen estretament. Treballar colze a colze amb soldadors, tornejadors i operaris del metall afavoreix un intercanvi fluid entre l’ofici artesanal i la forma contemporània. L’any 2025 va fundar ASET, un projecte centrat en la producció de mobiliari i objectes en petites sèries, elaborats amb artesans locals. La seva obra s’ha exposat internacionalment, i continua aprofundint en la seva recerca sobre la fabricació metàl·lica i els sistemes estructurals.

Sebastián Alarcón is a product designer based in Quito, Ecuador. His work centers on steel, shaped through iterative prototyping where industrial processes meet the hand. He uses standard profiles, sheets, and tubes, allowing production logic and available stock to

A technical sensibility—rooted in a craft-oriented
mother and a mechanically trained father—guides his attention to material behavior, assemblies, and the way a piece often takes direction during making. Modularity and assembly remain key lines of research, with works conceived as systems open to reconfiguration.
Quito offers a unique context, where industry and workshop culture coexist. Working closely with welders, turners, and metal operators allows a fluid exchange between craft and contemporary form. In 2025 he launched ASET, focused on furniture and objects produced in small batches with local craftsmen. His work has been shown internationally, and he continues to deepen his engagement with metal fabrication and structural systems.
