The work of Massimiliano Moro consists in treating light and shadow as equals. These two elements exist in a relationship akin to that between matter and void: in the same way that a sculptor may remove material to create form, he adds or subtracts shadows to generate a new visual balance.

These light sculptures project a circle with an almost tangible presence, within which highly saturated coloured shadows are created. The absence of light is used as a means of illumination, directing attention towards the shadows themselves and transforming them into a fundamental part of the luminaire.

The support consists of a chestnut wood structure, reduced to its essential elements in order to create a balance between projector and projection. It is composed of three variants: one floor-standing type and two L-shaped table-top versions.

This activity is organised by Barcelona’s pioneering design gallery, IL·LACIONS (2011), and by the platform DIFUSIONS, the first association dedicated to representing and promoting collectible design, founded by the gallery itself.

Both position narrative as an essential component of each work, expanding the boundaries of contemporary design towards new forms of craftsmanship, visual arts, sculptural languages, and installation.

Under the curatorship of Xavier Franquesa, they foster and bring visibility to contemporary talent through a ra
dical and transversal perspective, supporting both emerging and established creators while projecting unique pieces onto the international stage.
